Applications are invited from suitably qualified medical practitioners eligible for registration in New South Wales for the above position within the Medical Assessment Unit, Central Coast Local Health District CCLHD.
Applicants should be a Fellow of the Australasian College of Physicians and / or other specialist recognition.
Central Coast is comprised of the twin areas of Gosford and Wyong, positioned between Sydney and Newcastle, which are collectively expected to grow from the current approximate 300,000 to 450,000 population before 2030. The Local Health District has strong connections with both Royal North Shore Hospital and the University of Newcastle.
This position has obligations to both Gosford Hospital under Sessional arrangements and Wyong Hospital. Salary and conditions are in accordance with the Staff Specialist (State) Award.
The Staff Specialist participates in a shared roster of physicians in the Medical Assessment Unit (MAU) and provides medical support to facilitate the provision of contemporary, comprehensive, and professional services that are safe, effective, evidence based, and patient centered. This role is a key enabler to enhance patient flow by ensuring the appropriate and timely communication between Emergency Department, Hospital inpatient services, Residential Aged Care Facilities, General Practitioners, and other key partners in the delivery of admitted inpatient and community-based health care.
